Golf Score Card V1.2
Written by Mark Cunningham
THIS PROGRAM IS SHAREWARE AND MAY BE FREELY COPIED AND PASSED TO ANYONE
How to use the program:
REMEMBER - write down your registration code which is shown when you
start the program. Registration costs only $10. An unregistered
program will allow only 10 rounds of golf to be entered. When the
registration fee has been received, a password will be sent allowing
the user to enter an unlimited number of rounds.
Golf Score Card is broken down into 14 main areas, each of which is
represented by a button on the main menu screen. These are as follows:
1. NEW COURSE
This allows the user to enter details of any new course which they have
played. Information is required for the Name of the course and the Par
of each hole. The user can optionally provide details of the length
and difficulty index of each hole.
Note: A course must be entered before a new round is selected.
2. EDIT COURSE
The user can select any previously entered course to be edited.
3. NEW ROUND
Here the user is asked to select a previously entered course for which
the new round is to be entered. He/she must select the score for each
hole using the scroll bars (default is par), together with the date of
round.
4. EDIT ROUND
The user can select any previously entered round to be edited.
5. VIEW ROUND
The user may choose any of the previously entered rounds to be viewed.
The Course and Date of the round are displayed, together with the Par,
Strokes and Score for each hole. A buton is available for each hole
which when clicked provides the user with a breakdown of how that
particular hole has been played on previous rounds from this course.
A round rating is given comparing this particular round with all others
registered in the program.
A graph may also be selected comparing the score for each hole with it's
par.
6. ALL TIME ROUND
This option is available for any of the previously entered courses. The
computer calculates the best score taken on each hole of the course and
works out the players best round if they had played each hole to their
heighest previous level. Shows the kind of round which could be
achieved if there was some consistency in the player's golf (If only!!).
7. BEST SCORES
Provides a 'Hall of Fame' of the player's previous rounds. Lists every
recorded round in order of score (best first). Click the view button
beside any round to jump to the View Round screen.
8. AVERAGE SCORES
Provides the user with an average score/strokes for each hole on any
given course, together with the average in, out and total. A graph is
also provided.
9. COMPARE GRAPH
This feature allows the user to compare any two rounds of golf on the
same course by graphing side by side the score achievd on each hole.
Simply click the 1st round you wish to compare from the select round
box and click the compare button. Next select the 2nd round to be
compared and again click the compare button. Both rounds will appear
in the compare box. Click the graph button when this has been done to
see a comparison graph of the selected rounds.
10. PAST ROUNDS GRAPH
This allows the user to view the 10 most recent rounds of a selected
course on a line graph. It will hopefully show any improvement made
in his/her game of golf. (although the author cannot guarantee this!)
The score for each round is shown in blue, the par in green and an
average score for the past 10 rounds is shown in yellow.
11. PERSONAL DETAILS
The Personal Details screen gives the following information:
(a) Player Name
(b) Player Handicap
(c) Average Strokes taken on par all recorded par 3s, par 4s and par
5s together with a breakdown showing the number of birdies,
pars, bogeys etc. gained on each type of hole.
(d) Average score (to par) for every hole played
(e) Average score (to par) for every round played
(f) Total rounds recorded
(g) Best 3 scores for all courses
(h) Total number of birdies, pars, bogies etc. recorded for all rounds
12. CHANGE HANDICAP
This option allows the user to change his/her handicap
13. RESET
This feature allows the user to reset all the data stored in the
program. It is really only useful when passing a copy to another
user who may want to record their own statistics and so will want
to reset the data. It will also create a completely new password
and will allow the new user 10 rounds to be entered before registering
14. QUIT
Although self explanatory, it is recommended that the user exits the
program from here only as it does update some data to disk
